USA Hockey is offering virtual clinics.  You can register for a virtual clinic just like you have done in the past, for in-person at: usahockey.com/coachingclinics

USA Hockey Coaching Education Program (CEP) Requirements

Steps to becoming a USA Hockey Coach.

In addition to the clinics a coach must:

  • Age Specific Modules must be completed before a coach can be placed on a roster. A coach must complete a module for each age group they are coaching and once completed a coach does not need to take again.

  • Deadline to be current is December 31 or October 31 for Split Season teams (this includes your clinic).

New to Coaching:
Attend a LEVEL 1 Clinic which is good for one year.

Have Level 1:
Attend a LEVEL 2 Clinic which is good for one year.

Have Level 2:
Attend a LEVEL 3 Clinic which is good for one years.

Have Level 3:
Attend a LEVEL 4 Clinic which is good for three years.
For 2021-22 a coach can do the Level 3 On-Line Recertification which would be good for only 1 year.

Within the next three years a coach must acquire Continuing Education Units (CEU) - Amount is under discussion CEU will consist of HPW, Level 5, On-Line Units, etc

This process of acquiring CEU every three years will continue if the coach wants to remain currently certified.

LEVEL 3 COACHES PLEASE REFER TO

If you are currently a Level 3 coach please refer to the following regarding certification for 21-22:

  • If a coach has been certified at Level 3, for this year only, they can take the online Level 3 class 

  • OR - take a one day Level 4 clinic this year.

8U AND YOUNGER COACHES

Reminder that 8U and younger coaches only need to have their Level 1 certification.  These coaches still need to do:

  • Register with USA Hockey

  • USA Back Ground Check

  • USA Hockey Safesport 

  • Online module for 8U (only need to do this module one time)
